Photo reblogged from HARRINGTON!

el-harrington:

why does this movie seem to be forgotten?
watched it last night and cried for an hour and half.  not only are there incredible performances but the photography is breathtaking and it really leaves you with the sense of what that war was like.  shit, when they cut that guy’s legs off it’s like, ‘seriously?  they wouldn’t even just knock a guy out for something like that?  clock him over the head or something?  that’s CRAZY.’
true, the film isn’t perfect.  it is very manipulative - that score could get anyone to cry - and when denzel grabs the flag at the end it definitely pushes it - but by then i was sitting in a puddle of my own manipulated tears and i was helpless against its powers.
fuck.
did you know that field of dreams was nominated for best picture that year and glory wasn’t?  that shit’s not right.
if you haven’t seen it in awhile, or never, IT’S WORTH A SATURDAY NIGHT.  (if you want to cry a lot)
